Picasso Grant

What is the Picasso Project?

The Picasso Project is a program to improve the quality of the arts programs at under-resourced schools, improve school climate by giving kids an outlet to work together on projects, and spark student interest by integrating arts with core academic subjects. The Picasso also provides generous grant money for the school to use for their program!

What does the Picasso Grant mean for Cook-Wissahickon?
At Cook-Wissachickon we have implemented the arts over the last three years by first providing middle school student's an elective class called, a "choice". They are able to choose from many arts-enriched class options. Classes such as Photography, ceramics, dance, bucket drumming,  sketch-book, culinary arts, mural creation, mobile arts, synchronized movement and more!

Starting 2019 the school further implemented the arts enrichment throughout the entire school by matching up the younger grades with an older grade choice class. There, the older students taught and assisted the younger grades with completing arts projects. By working together, teachers and students and students with students fully integrated the arts into the entire school.

Lets Check out what the teachers and students are up to for the 2019-2020 school year!

Though it is still a work-in-progress, Cook-Wissahickon has had a successful arts integration school wide. We hosted a 2020 Winter Showcase encompassing all of the hard work the staff and students created and performed. Please enjoy the highlighted photographs below!
